She arrives early to begin setting up and is the last to leave each year. She truely sees the first and the last participant every year! She is the "Spirit of Mile 25" and takes great pride in making sure everyone who runs by is supported and hydrated. Mile 25 involves a long day for Gail and her crew, but they work together and always have a great time! As Gail prepares for the 13th year, she is as exicited as ever to make mile 25 the place where everyone feels the energy they need to get to reach the finish line.
Gail also assists in race preparations. Gail and her husband, Wayne, deliver volunteer t shirts to other organizations volunteering. She is always willing to offer her assistance in any way she can. New Timing System (November 2008)

The Myrtle Beach Marathon and RMS Sports are proud to announce the use of a new timing system.  We will be using the Chronotrack system, which promises 99.8% accuracy.  The best part is, you simply tear your chip off your bib and place it on your shoe.  It is disposable.  This means no more worrying about returning your chip or having to stop at the finish line to get it taken off.  You can cross that finish line and thoroughly enjoy the moment.  To learn more about the Chronotrack system or for more information please visit www.Chronotrack.com or www.RMSSports.com

Click here to watch a video on how to use your new timing chip.

New Expo Location (October 2008)

We are excited to announce that the Expo will be held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center this year, located at 21st Ave North and Oak St.  The venue allows for more space, which means more vendors and more fun!

  • The Myrtle Beach Marathon will be participating in the "Reuse a Shoe Event" at the expo this year.  Please bring your old running shoes to the expo where we will be collecting them and will have them recycled for you.  All parts of the shoe (rubber, foam and fabric) are ground up for different parts of sports surfaces for communities around the world.  For more drop off locations and information please visit www.letmeplay.com/reuseashoe
  • As in years past, we will be providing transportation from participating host hotels for Marathon race day.  And if you are staying at the Sheraton Hotel (at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center) the walk to the start line is only about a half mile away...great warm up!

There will be no Marathon Relay this year.  By taking the relay out of the weekend events we were able to increase the number allowed in the Marathon and Half Marathon.  Although we do expect both of these events to sell out early, so please register as soon as possible.
